Presentation of the DI4 project

The Asturian Information and Communication Technologies Cluster (ICT Cluster) has presented its project “Di4: Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data for Smart and Sustainable Tourism Destinations” at the regional stand of the International Trade Fair of Gijón FIDMA last week. This project, funded by IDEPA and the European Regional Development Fund, aims to generate competitive advantages in the companies participating in the project, in relation to products and services that add value to the tourism industry, generating collaborative business opportunities. All this with the aim of promoting innovation supported by digital transformation for the transformation of tourism and public administrations. The project, initially designed for 5, is already working with 22 Asturian City Councils and their CDTLs.

At the fair, Enrique Jáimez Falagán (Director General of the Asturias ICT Cluster) and Iván Aitor Lucas del Amo (Director General of Innovation, Research and Digital Transformation of the Government of Asturias) highlighted the importance that this project can have even for the smallest municipalities.

Other presentations were given by different cluster partners, such as Oscar Cosido Cobos CEO of Upintelligence who explained the operation of the App based on AR and AR for the project, stressing the importance of the data, the points of interest of the application and the information it can provide to municipalities. Maria J. Argüelles (CEO at Terrain Technologies) also showed the importance of managing the information that is generated in the application and in social networks and that allows to give a fundamental information to the City Councils to plan. Another speaker was Carlos Fernández del Valle (Manager at Delta Contenidos Digitales) who stressed that “for tourism to be a winning sector it must integrate technology”, alluding to the relevance of the DI4 project.
