Asturias Hub Defence

TECHNOLOGICAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION OF ASTURIAS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DEFENCE INDUSTRY. INITIATIVE “ENGINEER GONZÁLEZ-HONTORIA”

The Asturias Defence Hub cluster is made up of large companies, SMEs and a technological centre, with the fundamental objective of positioning the Principality of Asturias as a reference for research and technological development in the defence industry at a regional, national and European level.

 

Objectives

The cluster has as priority objectives to combine capabilities, offer advanced technological solutions and develop competitive projects in various areas: advanced manufacturing, new materials, smart textiles, digital twins, sensors and electronic systems, unmanned vehicles, personal protection, artificial intelligence, robotics platforms, personalised nutrition, simulation, etc.

Activities

  • Coordination of agents (companies, academia, technology centres and public administration) who work in the defence sector and who are carrying out technological development tasks within that sector, through the design and execution of a technological innovation roadmap.
  • Increase the presence of technology suppliers and technology seekers in the supply chain of the defence sector.
  • Increase the collaboration of suppliers and national and international companies seeking technology in the supply chain of the defence sector with companies and other entities that can facilitate such technology.
  • Increase the involvement of the Directorate-General for Armament (DGAM) and the Logistics Support Command (MALE) in the industrial and technological fabric.
  • Identify and execute technological demonstration projects that serve as proof of concept with capacity for implementation in defence, in the short to medium term.
  • Coordinate actions to attract innovation funds, on a national and international level, for the development of technological actions.
  • Increase the technological reputation and visibility of companies among the main technological agents of the defence sector.
  • To raise awareness and support the companies belonging to the Association in the promotion of innovation, research, and development through knowledge and the incorporation of technological advances related to the activities carried out by its associates.
  • Collaborate with partners in defining, planning, developing and implementing strategies, projects and initiatives related to R+D+i, including the dissemination of them and their results, when required.
  • Promote training and qualification in associated companies in everything related to R+D+i within the defence sector.
  • Access all types of support and resources, both public and private, intended for the financing of its activity and purposes.
  • Promote forums, debates, congresses and similar initiatives, in which experiences and results related to innovation in the defence industry can be exchanged.
  • Provide information and dissemination that keeps the entity members up to date on the evolution of aspects related to R+D+i in the field of defence-related technologies.
