The Metal & Materials Science Engineering department of this university studies on metallic and ceramic materials on processing, characterisation & applications.

In 2011, new generation 2D material successfully syntheses from 312 TiSiC system. As a similar property with graphene, the discovered 2D material is called MXenes. Owing to excellent properties of the MXene materials are an alternative to graphene and has great potential applications from battery materials to electronic applications.

MXenes is produced by the synthesizing of the processed MAB phases in a large quantity by sonication-assisted liquid-phase exfoliation process under the pressured conditions with HF acid. The cycles performance of the 2D samples are important indicator for the excellent capacitance stability.

They offer:

  • New approach and opportunity to provide innovative process new generation ceramics for battery & energy materials,
  • Perform experimental study on new type of process / product develop boron based MAX phases for different uses
  • Synthesis new 2D materials of MXenes for electrode materials
